How long is the recovery period?
Why Consider Eyelid Surgery?
Am I a candidate for eyelid surgery?
The recovery period after eyelid surgery involves two stages: time off from work and restrictions on physical activities. For individuals who have received both upper and lower blepharoplasties on both eyelids, it is normal to take 10 to 14 days off from work, during which time the patient will focus on their full recovery. In certain situations that involve a skin-only blepharoplasty, patients may only need to take three to five days off from work. Furthermore, all blepharoplasty patients need to restrict strenuous physical activity for 2 weeks.
There are many reasons why one might consider eyelid surgery, such as to treat a medical condition or improve their appearance. Eyelid surgery may provide the following benefits:
• Eyes appear well-rested
• Potentially improves vision
• Removes bags from lower eyelids
• Scars are minimal and well-hidden
A plastic surgeon may decide that a patient is a good candidate for eyelid surgery based on the following factors:
• Excess loose tissue on upper/lower eyelids
• Excess fatty deposits that cause puffiness
• Loose or sagging skin that causes folds or alters the contour of the upper eyelid, causing it to appear unnatural
• Loose eyelid skin that impairs vision
• Fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid
• Bags under the eyes
• Droopiness of the lower eyelids
• General health is in good condition
• Non-smoker
• Realistic expectations for improvement and not perfection
Factors not ideal for eyelid surgery include:
• Uneven eyes
• Drooping eyebrows
• Symptoms of dry eye
• Eye infections or other eye diseases
• Severe illness or infection
At Partridge Plastic Surgery, we also offer other cosmetic procedures other than eyelid surgery like facelifts, brow lifts, Juvéderm fillers, Botox, and liposuction to help enhance your appearance and achieve your aesthetic goals.
